Waterbury Hospital Speakers Series Offers May Classes on
Cataract Surgery and Melanoma

Offered May 12 and May 26
WATERBURY – The
Waterbury Hospital It’s All About You Spring
Speakers Series is offering two free health and wellness
presentations in May that are open to the public.
The first event will take place
Wednesday, May 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the
Bizzozero Conference Room in the hospital. “Latest
Technology After Cataract Surgery” will be presented by
Vincent deLuise, MD of OptiCare in Waterbury. This
presentation will discuss cataracts, which is a clouding
of the eye’s natural lens which seriously impair vision.
Dr. deLuise will talk about the latest advances in
treating patients through cataract surgery.
A second presentation, “Early
Diagnosis and Treatment of Melanoma,” will take place in
the Bizzozero Conference Room on Wednesday, May 26 from
6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The presentation by Scott
Kurtzman, MD, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at
Waterbury Hospital, will take a close look at the cancer
melanoma, which is often caused by prolonged exposure to
the sun and can be fatal if left undetected and
untreated.
