WATERBURY
– Waterbury
Hospital is inviting the public to celebrate 120 years
of excellence at the 11th Annual Waterbury
Hospital Charity Gala on Saturday, November 20, at the
Villa Rosa Wedding & Banquet Facility (The Ponte Club)
in Waterbury.
The
theme for this year’s Gala is “So Great for So Long,”
celebrating the hospital’s 120 years of excellence in
caring for the people of the Greater Waterbury Region.
The Gala, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will have many
features, including the hospital’s Humanitarian of the
Year Award, given to Richard Silverman, MD, for his work
with the Home-to-Home Foundation on behalf of residents
of area nursing homes. The evening will also feature a
Silent Auction of as much as 100 items; a Live Auction
of six extraordinary items auctioned by Brad Davis of
WDRC Radio; hors d’oeuvres; dinner; an historical video;
open bar; and a diamond raffle.
Entertainment will be
provided by the band “Third Shift,” featuring lead
vocalist Nadina Perry, an employee in Waterbury
Hospital’s One-Day Surgery Department. Perry has sung
back-up vocals for Flutist Sherry Winston on “Life is
Love and Love is You” (2000) and on Fonda Feingold’s
“Before and After” (2004) recordings. She also recorded
a duet, “The Promise,” with Fred Paris. This recording
was produced by former Waterbury resident Chris “Big
Dog” Davis, a former Grammy nominee.
Tickets cost $150 per
person, portions of which are tax-deductible. All
proceeds will go to support an Advanced Patient Care
Communications System in the hospital’s Telemetry Unit.
